Rita Lichtenstein, who lived in Fire Island Pines and the Upper West Side of Manhattan and was born in Greensboro, North Carolina, passed away on March 13, at the age of 90, after a long illness. Rita and her husband of 58 years Jack Lichtenstein, who survives her, founded the Pines Liquor Store and performed in many Fire Island Pines Arts Project theater productions. Rita is also survived by son Mark and daughter Betsy, who sings with Essential Voices USA. In lieu of flowers, the family urges donating to Congregation Rodeph Shalom, the synagogue in New York City that the Lichtensteins attended, or to Lambda Legal or SAGE, in Rita’s memory.
