Robert Montano’s one-hander “SMALL” is now playing at George Street Playhouse for a very limited run and you need to get your tickets NOW! “SMALL” is anything but, as you’ll know from the moment you walk in to some of the best pre-curtain music from the 1970s. The sounds immediately bring back a time in the last century when a boy could feel 10 feet tall and bulletproof, even when he was 4 feet 6 inches tall and 70 pounds soaking wet. Montano takes us on a whirlwind ride from the first halting steps as he learned to love thoroughbred horses to the full gallop of life in a very fast, and dangerous, lane.
Montano is full of self-deprecating humor and he is a natural story teller. He brings us in to the heart of the boy that arguably he still remains after a lifetime of experiencing the joys and pains, literal and figurative, of an athlete who struggles with his craft. Equally important, Montano shares his vulnerability and that shows the grit of which he’s made. After all, it’s not how many times you fall, it’s how many times you get up. And in this case, how much you giddyup and what you do with your shot. Robert Montano is one of a kind and you owe it to yourself to make this race.
Early Valentine’s gift, anyone? This show runs through February 9, 2025 only, so give a live theater experience! Your tickets are waiting. Visit https://www.georgestreetplayhouse.org/events/detail/gene-gilda for tickets and more.
