Cathy Eckdahl & her work
|
....................................................................................................................................................................................... |
Brooklyn and Cherry Grove’s Cathy Eckdahl and Susan Freedner hosted their Open Studio/Open House, in New York City on November 17, welcoming friends and family, and friends of theirs to an artful day. Despite the gray day, the warm conversation and brilliant talent illuminated the day and there was a special emphasis on Cathy’s paintings and sculptures. If you have ever been to an artist’s home, it will radically change your idea regarding how much space you need around fine art. Work of every style from this prolific artist was present and there was a lot of buzz around many of them. In fact, often folks were patiently waiting to speak to the artist and get the coveted bright neon dot that signified SOLD before someone else could claim the piece of your dreams.
Eckdahl collectors were milling about in the foyer, looking at works in large folios, roaming the apartment, whose walls, in living room, kitchen, and bedroom, were covered with art in all media, including mixed. There were sculpture pieces in vitrines, featuring natural materials, giving us different perspectives on what is possible with and in Nature.
Many of the Fire Island glitterati were present, including members of the Arts Project of Cherry Grove and movers and shakers from the Cherry Grove Community Association, as well as family and far ranging friends and quite literally neighbors.
Make sure to add yourself to Cathy Eckdahl’s mailing list and visit www.eckdahl.org to see select works to add to your collection. The holidays are almost here–give the gift that will take someone’s breath away, every day!
