On the 77th Golden Globe Awards, on January 5, talk show host Ellen De Generes (“Ellen”) won television’s second-ever Carol Burnett Award, following Burnett herself, at last year’s Award show. Introducing De Generes, in an uplifting and affectionate speech, was Kate McKinnon (“Saturday Night Live”), who noted that De Generes’ coming out on television inspired her own public coming out here. On De Generes’ NBC-TV show on January 7, McKinnon was the featured guest. McKinnon’s speech, De Generes’ acceptance speech, and the collage of highlights of De Generes’ career were reprised and the women talked about films and acting, and about their cats.
