In 1970, the Black Panther Party invited French gay writer Jean Genet to come to America to express his support for the movement and his alliance with the party helped forge its cooperation with the Women’s Liberation and the Gay Liberation movements. The historic work of the Black Panthers, the visit of Jean Genet, and the current Black Lives Matter movement have inspired Q News’ Tadeusz von Moltke, working with Alexander Zuccaro, under the auspices of Dixon Place, to create “Stop When You’re Done 20/21,” the third panel of the “Genet 110” tetralogy, a dialogue between a Boomer (von Moltke) and a Millenial (Zuccaro), accompanied by visuals and audio, old and new. As this is a product of today’s Covid-19 pandemic, von Moltke and Zuccaro are never seen together, their emphatic exchanges necessarily remote.

Invoked here, too, are towering figures Harriet Tubman, Dr. Martin Luther King, Shirley Chisholm, and Bayard Rustin, and divas Marsha P. Johnson, Shirley Verrett, Misty Copeland, and Laverne Cox.
