In the great tradition of Vampira and Zacherley, "Stan the Mechanic" is a new TV Horror Host set to haunt the airwaves premiering on October 29t just in time for Halloween 2020. Stan, as the one and only Satanic Mechanic, has been chosen by the Devil to perpetuate all sorts of mischief and mayhem against humankind by using automobiles. “He is more mischievous than evil. He mainly causes traffic jams and flattens tires! He runs his workshop in Brooklyn, New York with a revolving cast of assistants,” John A.Hernandez, the creator and star tells us, adding, “During his downtime he likes to relax and crack jokes with his friends while watching horror movies.“
As a gay male, Stan enjoys showcasing queer horror, but nothing is off limits for this naughty little demon. There will be laughs, there will be screams and oh yes; there will be blood! “When we pitched the idea of a new "Bear" Horror Host to Here TV last year, we really didn’t know what they would say. That they took about a nanosecond to say yes to the idea was thrilling, and then the exciting journey of bringing 'Stan The Mechanic' to life began,” said Executive Producer, Richard Jones.
If your not sure what a Horror Host is, John A Hernandez the Creator & Host of the show explained to me, “A horror host is a guide that takes the viewer on a journey through whichever film they are watching. Horror movies are meant to be upsetting and scary, so the horror host is there to break that tension. We introduce the films and pop up throughout the broadcast to tell some jokes, perform some shtick and give some background on the movies. This tradition began in the 1950’s and I am proud to keep it going for a new generation.”
John has worked tirelessly to create a fun yet different Horror Host, and represent the elements that make him the only Bear Latino Horror Host out there! John A. Hernandez is an actor, writer, comedian, and proud New Yorker of Puerto Rican/ Italian heritage. As an out and proud gay man, John identifies as a Bear and is truly honored to help give visibility to the LGBTQ+ community and people of size in the horror genre. As a long-time horror fan, he is thrilled to bring a new Horror Host, "Stan the Mechanic," to life for a global audience.
John is also a published writer having written many articles for Bear World Magazine about both horror and non-horror topics. He was interviewed for Lavender After Dark by Jed Ryan as one of four 'men of horror.' The other three guests were: Terror Talk’s Jay Michaels, Theatre of Terror’s Tom Ryan, and horror film actor Joe Zaso. He has guested on The Nothing Podcast with Nobody Important for its Halloween episode in 2019. In the summer of 2020, he appeared on Terror TV with Jay Michaels as a featured Horror Host, along with the legendary Horror Host Count Gore de Vol, and Horror Host and actress Gigi Bannister.
Drected by Catalin Stelian and produced by Parrline Productions, "Stan the Mechanic" premieres on the heretv app and website on October 29, just in time for Halloween! More episodes will follow towards the end of November. You can keep tabs on all his adventures by signing up to his mailing list at
