On Your Feet is now at Paper Mill Playhouse and with the vision, voice and verve of Emilio and Gloria Estefan with Alexander Dinelaris’ book, you are in expert hands. Alex Sanchez does double duty, director and choreographer, there is a unity and beauty that makes for an evening of pure delight.
Growing up with Miami Sound Machine, there are so many wonderful hits and Brandon Espinoza’s Emilio shows us how vision and genius for self promotion put them on the map. Vanessa Sierra played Gloria the evening I went and she was brilliant in the role of a young woman with gifts of her own. Watching two young people grow in respect then love for one another is only the beginning.
If you feel music, wear your most comfortable dressy clothes when you go. You may only stop moving during intermission. Emilio Sosa’s costumes give us era, mood, flow and more. When we go back in time to a night club in Cuba, it is the stuff of dreams. And with the one-two punch of Charlie Morrison’s light design and Matt Kraus’ sound design, we are everywhere.
See this whether or not you’ve even heard of the Estefan’s. This is a story of love, family, respect and commitment of every kind. If your feet and hands aren’t moving while watching this show, you may need to check your pulse. Make this an evening out with people you love, and you’ll love them even more!
You only have until November 6 to see On Your Feet, so visit papermill.org NOW for the best seats (even though you’ll be on YOUR feet)!
